Thistle Farms: Strength in Steeped Stories

We will travel to Nashville to visit Thistle Farms for tea and a talk from a graduate.  You may leave feeling both tender and inspired — aware of hardship, yet moved by the power of community and love to rebuild lives.

 

Thistle Farms exists to support women survivors of prostitution, trafficking, and addiction by offering three powerful foundations: A safe place to live, meaningful employment, and a lifelong sisterhood of support. 

 

The thistle itself is a powerful metaphor. Often dismissed as a weed, it grows in the harshest conditions — in cracks of sidewalks, in forgotten alleys — yet it thrives. Its deep roots break through concrete. In the same way, the women of Thistle Farms have endured environments meant to crush them. 

One of the guiding principles of Thistle Farms is “chado” — The Way of Tea.

 

Rooted in Japanese tradition, chado is about more than preparing tea. It is about serving and sharing it from a deep place of love, intention, and presence. Tea becomes a spiritual practice — an offering of care. The china cups carry meaning. Each one, donated by a supporter, represents connection — a global community extending love and solidarity. No two cups are the same, just as no two stories are the same. Yet together, they form a table of belonging. If you wish you may donate a tea cup of your own. 

 

On our way home you can put purpose to hunting for treasures at an antique mall, antique shopping complements the experience of Thistle Farms— both honor the past while giving it new life.

There is no cancellation or refunds for Day Trips. Due to our guest counts and vendor payments, we must secure your space well in advance. If you must cancel, you may transfer your reservation and funds individually to another person (please let us know the new guest's name and information in advance). Thank you for your understanding.
