Costa Rica....beyond senses

Explore Costa Rica’s three ecosystems—volcano, cloud forest, and coast—on this eight-day adventure. Enjoy a “Noche Tica” show in San José, visit Poás Volcano and a coffee plantation in Arenal, wander Monteverde’s Cloud Forest, and relax on Tamarindo’s golden beaches.

Day 1

We will meet bright and early at the EVV airport and fly to San José, Costa Rica. This evening, we will enjoy dinner and a lively “Noche Tica” cultural show at Mirador Tiquicia Restaurante.

Day 2


Travel from San José to Arenal with guided visits to Poás Volcano National Park and Hacienda Doka along the way, where you’ll enjoy a coffee tour and lunch.

Day 3

Discover Costa Rica’s famous wildlife on a guided Sloth Tour, then visit downtown La Fortuna before relaxing in your hotel’s thermal hot springs.

Day 4

Begin the day with a guided visit to Arenal Volcano National Park before crossing scenic Lake Arenal en route to Monteverde.

Day 5

Explore Monteverde’s rich biodiversity at Selvatura Park, featuring the butterfly garden and reptile and amphibian exhibits. Spend the rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the town.

Day 6

Experience a guided visit to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve before continuing to Tamarindo on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. Settle into your Beach Resort and enjoy an included dinner overlooking the ocean.

Day 7

Spend the day at leisure—relax at the resort or explore optional local excursions. In the evening, enjoy a farm-to-table dining experience at La Senda, featuring a three-course dinner and a peaceful labyrinth walk.

Today we travel from Tamarindo to the Guanacaste International Airport and return home.

Because we are traveling by boat on Arenal Lake

the maximum baggage allowance is 25 pounds (12 kilos) per person.

 

Things to consider for a trip to Costa Rica

ª Copies of passport.

ª Sunscreen and insect repellent.

ª Shirts: cotton or light synthetic, long- and short-sleeved.

ª Dry fit clothing: cotton or light synthetic pants and shorts. Bring at least 2 sets of clothes that dry quickly (jeans

not recommended and too slow to dry).

ª Footwear: waterproof, light-weight hiking boots, river sandals (Teva-type sandals), tennis shoes/running shoes. If

you do not bring hiking boots, make sure you bring TWO pairs of tennis shoes.

ª If you are going to observe the turtle nesting at any of the nesting areas in the country, bring dark pants and shirt,

and closed-toe shoes.

ª Socks: bring extra pairs in case feet get wet.

ª Rain gear: rain poncho and/or umbrella.

ª Hat(s) with visor for rain and sun protection.

ª Flashlight with spare batteries and bulb (a

ª MUST for Corcovado area).

ª Camera and extra batteries, charger and plenty of memory.

ª Zip-lock plastic bags for personal belongings protection in case of rain.

ª Extra prescription glasses and medication (if applicable).

ª Small day pack or fanny pack for hikes.

ª Sweater or light jacket.

ª Sunglasses.

ª Swimwear.

 

Costa Rica General Facts:

ª The sunset in Costa Rica is between 5:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. all year around.

ª Drinkable bottled water available at every village.

ª Credit cards accepted: Visa, Master Card & American Express.

ª US$ are well accepted at restaurants and stores. (Preferably $10 & $20 bills).

ª The electrical current throughout Costa Rica is the same as US-110-volt AC. Outlets are generally 2-pronged. A

voltage converter is necessary in order to use 240/250-Volt AC-powered items.

ª Weather:

ª Dry season: From December to April.

ª Rainy season: From May to November (if visits are near forests, there are more chances of rain).
